Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II blessed the new parish of St. Ciaran, Hartstown during his visit to the ancient Monastery of St Ciaran, Clonmacnoise on the 30th September, 1979. Also in the picture is St. Manchans Shrine of Lemonaghan.

The idea of the Hartstown Community School was initiated by Matt Moran at a parish meeting. The dream came to birth through the sterling work of Sean Sheehan and his team. The principal is Tommy Flynn, and Vice Principal is Maureen Black.

Bishop Dermot O Mahony Bishop Dermot O' Mahony blessed the new church of St Ciaran on 27th September 1987 and has given encouragement over the years.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Archbishop Desmond Connell Archbishop Desmond Connell was the First Archbishop to visit the parish on 22th March 1992 to celebrate Confirmation. Ethna Regan and Ned Hollywood made a presentation of Dublin Crystal Glass to the Archbishop.

 
 
 
 
 
 

President Mary McAleese praying President Mary McAleese and husband The Lady President Of Ireland - Ms. Mary McAleese and her husband -Martin prayed Mass together with us, and lit the Millenium Candle on the 14th November 1999.

(Note: The Sisters of the Infant Jesus helped in the parish for 9 years. Fr Jack Kirk was with us for 5 years, 1988-1993. Tommy Kelly and Annie Gaffney were the first Church Sacristans, 1979-1996. Gerry Rafter has been a faithful assistant Sacristan over the years).
