Communion
The parish helps the children and parents to celebrate Communion and Mass with five visits to the Church during the school year. We make our First Communion during Mass. We learn how to pray together at Mass with our hands.
- The Leader shows the children the Baptism Font and will supervise each child blessing in the name of Father, Son and the Holy Ghost.
- At the second visit the Bible is shown to the children. The Bible is God's love story for people and is like a picture album. We bless our forehead, lips and heart with our thumb to help us to listen and be encouraged by God's word at Mass.
- Third visit we join in with the priest when he raises two hands to give Thanks to God at Mass.
- Fourth visit we learn to shake hands in friendship at Mass and we celebrate Forgiveness.
- Fifth - we welcome the Spirit of Jesus into our hearts with two hands at Communion time of Mass. Each child is given a souvenir card of "The Visit" to take home.
