The Baptism of the Lord

Jesus didn't need to get baptised. He was without sin, he may have gone to join John as a gesture of solidarity or to identify with the message of repentance that John was preaching.

Jesus saw his ministry as different to John's. His outreach was to the 'lost sheep of the house of Israel'.  The ministry of Christ was aimed at the marginalised people of society. Christ's ministry was a ministry of compassion, he told his disciples to go out and  'to preach and to heal'.
