Second Sunday of Lent
Readings: Gen 15:5-12, 17-18; Phil 3:17-4:1; Lk 9:28-36
Transfigured.
Many scripture commentaries have little to say about the transfiguration. Some confine themselves to presenting the arguments on the location of the event-Mount Harmon or Mount Tabor.
This was a remarkable experience... Jesus had tried to explain that he had to go to Jerusalem where he would suffer many things and die. 'and that on the third day he would rise again'. This upset the disciples, who really didn't understand what this meant.
The mountain is the place of struggle, of mystery, of isolation and peace. The mountain is a place of silence, where the voice of God can be heard
