How is it that the Holy Spirit worked so powerfully in the early Church? Do we have any expectation or faith that the Spirit will pour out his gifts in the Christian community?

My son and I were walking along a path, he enjoys walking backwards, he asked me if he was facing the past or the future.
I thought about the idea of walking along a path being related to life, and said to him you are facing the opposite to the way we are traveling so you can see where we have been, I am looking forward to where we are going, and we are both traveling along together so therefore we are both in the prescent. |

Fifth Sunday of Easter
Readings: Acts 14:21-27;Apoc:1-5; Jn 13: 31-33
Cardinal Joseph Bernardin wrote to his priests "I have never understood what it means to be a priest more than I do now. People look to priests to be authentic witnesses to God's active role in the world, to his love. ..... people simply want us to be with them in the joys and sorrows of their lives..... People remember the small acts of concern and thoughtfulness.

Fourth Sunday of Easter
Readings: Acts 13:14, 43-52; Apoc 7:14-17; Jn 10:27-30
In Jesus' time the sheep from several villages were brought together to be kept safe in a sheepfold. The gate to the fold was guarded. In the morning the shepherds came in by the gate and led their sheep out to pasture. Jesus used the image of the shepherd and the gate of the sheep fold and refers them to himself. It is in the shepherd that the sheep find security; the shepherd is the one who will protect them.... When we are alone, frightened or isolated, Jesus is always there with love, compassion and forgivness. He is also the way to the father...It is through Jesus that we obtain new life.
