The Fith Sunday

Readings: Isa 6:1-2, 3-8; Cor 15:1-11; Lk 5:1-11

  1. We have to be willing to meet people and to befriend them. A smile or a simple 'hello' is where it begins. Being friendly and pleasant with people is more important than we may believe.
  2. Learning to relate to people means that a confidence can be established leading to a sharing of faith.
  3. Telling people what your faith means to you can be a powerful testemony in this year of evangilisation.
  4. Jesus message is in the Gosple. get a copy of one of the Gospels if you do not already have one.
  5. Accepting Christ in a full and complete way, requires prayer and repentance.
  6. People need ongoing support, to help their faith to grow.
  7. The local church may be asked to accept the responsibility for the continuing growth of the new Christian. In the Catholic tradition the sacramental life of the church will foster growth in holiness.

Support may come from the most unextected sourse, I had a dream this morning about a departed relative who passed on last year, she gave me a hug, I could feel her holding me and her chin putting preasure on my left shoulder. It was hard for me to think that it was a dream, I felt a great sense of being healed.

Fourth Sunday: Jer 1:4, 5, 17-19; 1 Cor 12:31-13:13; Lk 4:21-30

A prophet must swim against the tide, and will encounter opposition, perhaps even suffering. Preachers and prophets are needed so that, as one commentator put it, 'the rumour of God may be kept alive'.

As  Christians we are called to bear witness to the good news that god is a living force in our lives. God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, to suffer and die for our sins so that we would not have to.

Third Sunday

Readings: Neh 8:2-6, 8-10; Cor 12:12-30; Lk 1:1-4, 4:14-21

Jesus sets forth his priorities in his first public speech in the Temple. It is a big challenge to follow the 'liberation' movement inaugurated by Jesus.

He has anointed me to bring the good news to the poor,

To proclaim liberty to captives,

Recovery of sight to the blind,

To set prisoners free,

To anounce a year of favour from the Lord.

Second Sunday

Many people have lost confidence in the possibility of a person remaining faithful for life in marriage and to life long commitments. The Church teaches that Cana is forever.

Todays Thought

Precious...Many words have more than one meaning, Jesus gave us two commandments to love the lord with our hearts and to love our neighbour as ourselves.... the second meaning of the word precious works best with the teachings of Christ as it means Loved and Treasured.
