The Third Sunday of Advent
Readings: Zeph 3:14-18; Philippians 4:4-7
Luke 3:10-18
A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Philippians.
I want you to be happy, always happy in the Lord; I repeat, what I want is your happiness. Let your tolerance be evident to everyone: the lord is near. There is no need to worry; but if there is anything you need, pray for it, asking God for it with prayer and thanksgiving, and that peace of God, which is so much greater than we can understand, will guard your hearts and your thoughts, in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4-7

Second Sunday of lent Year C
Readings: Bar 5: 1-9; Phil 1: 3-6, 8-11; Lk 3: 1-6
We need heroes, role models ... Che Guevara has been such to two generations of young people... Have we been presenting an eratz (inferior substitute or imitation) Christ to the people? ... Jesus is the leader to whom John the Baptist points in today's Gospel. His agenda for change is far more radical than that of Guevara's. It starts with a change of heart rather than structures ... leaving the old behind and taking on the image of christ ... indifference or apathy where Christ is concerned is not an option.

Last Sunday of the year
Readings Dan 7:13-14; Rev 1:5-8; Jn 18:33-37
The quiet dignity of Jesus in the face of suffering is an encouragement to us. It was the dignity of presence, the dignity of knowing who he was in relation to his Father.
