'At that time there shall arise

Michael, the great prince,

guardian of your people,

It shall be a time unsurpassed in distress

since nations began until that time.

At that time your people shall escape,

everyone who is found written in the book.

Many of those who sleep

in the dust of the earth shall awake;

some shall live forever,

others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace.

But the wise shall shine brightly

like the splendor of the firmament,

And those who lead the many to justice

shall be like the stars forever.

Dan 12: 1-3

Thirty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

What a contrast; on the one hand Jesus criticises the religious leaders of his day, and on the other praises the poor for widow for her generosity.

Sunday's Thought

Feast of All Saints

Have we forgotton what Jesus came to do? The basic prophecy of Jesus is contained in the Gospel of today's mass.

The good news that Jesus came to proclaim was not 'pie in the sky when you die' He awakend hope in the poor and the oppressed. The good news was about living conditions on earth when the poor would no longer be poor, the hungry would be filled with good things and the oppressed would be liberated.

Jesus did not come to bring charity or healing it was freedom he came to bring.

For twelve years John lived in darkness, however that was not the end of the story in 1957 John miraculously began to see again. John became an activist in the struggle for human rights, in America. John wrote the best seller Black like me, and threw himself into the civil rights movement.

Monday's Thought

Many Catholics lead their lives estranged from the Church. Some are hurt by past experiences. God is waiting to receive withjoy those who desire to make the journey home. 'Courage' he says to Bartimaeus in the gospel this week.
